pure white sand?

Yeah when i was looking for sand i went to my local Menards and I noticed that there sand was more brown and it looked wierd...

Here is an OLD video of one of my tanks with WPFS from my local pool store

I think local pool store sand is better quality than sand from Menards, Home Depot, or Lows

Got back from that store. The guy said all he had was brown. That is the kind of sand I want but what I got I don't like due to the sticking. It never stuck to my gars that I had in there and some of them got fully covered in it from it getting kicked up during feeding.

I don't have rays but when looking for sand I wanted white also and where I live people don't have pools it is too cold so I called all the hot tub places around and they all said they could order pool filter sand but did not stock it. Until I had one store tell me just to go to home depot and ask for 20 grit silica sand. He said that is the same stuff as pool filter sand and even looked in his book to find out that pool filter sand is 20 grit.

I went to home depot and asked if they had any and they had 20 grit and 30 grit both white and it was only $8 for 100 lbs.

Here is what it looks like. I have better fish pictures but this one shows the sand good.

It looks nice, I just remember reading silica sand cuts rays up. Somebody correct me if I am wrong because they have that in white at the stores.

I really hope someone can answer this question for sure too, because I was hoping to upgrade to a larger aquarium in about a year and get a couple of rays then and I would not want to use it then if that was the case.

You might look into torpedo beach sand. I have heard it is ok for rays and doesn't change your PH if used in freshwater but haven't done a lot of research on it myself yet. It isn't pure white but looks pretty good.

I use silica sand in my tanks but I only have south american fish. It's pure white and requires very little rinsing. I paid $5 for a 75lb bag at a place that sells swimming pools

I use torpedo beach. Its like a small gravel that dosnt stick to rays but its not the brightest white

Do you have a pic of a ray on the sand? I can recall one on the sand. I seem to only see them on clean bottoms.

I thought about clean bottom but my current tank glows green on a clean bottom.

The torpedo beach kinda looks like the pool filter sand that I have seen around here, maybe a touch whiter.

Thanks. That looks white enough for me. I think I am going to go that route. Thanks.
