Purigen Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How wide are your baffles ? Could you place the purigen between them but cram enough in so theres little bypass ? Or maybe use a bunch of tee's and connect multiple smaller lengths of pvc pipe to a spare pump ?

Thank you for the generous and detailed explanation. That expands my knowledge of what to expect after hearing about your experiences.

I can see clearly now that passive flow isn't an efficient process or practical process. I'm not sure a baffle method will work either. Pulling or pumping pre-filtered water through a container or tube filled with purigen seems like the most useful system. (Gravity flow off a tee through a closed chamber would probably work, as well, although more slowly.)

This has given me much food for thought.

I think you need something like this....

Np. Yes i think a tee would work fine.

I tried a diy version and the low flow required to tumble the beads wasnt sufficent in turning over the tank volume. I saw little to know reduction.

The current method is working so far.

As of today nitrates :

Under normal circumstances nitrates would be 40 to 60 by tomorrow.

Seems to be working well.

Seems to be working well.

Only thing i dont like is the rechargimg methods. The true test is how frequently i'll have to recharge it
