I was doing up my once a year big online order (tax return order :D) and after hearing everyone boast Purigen so much I was so excited that I was buying the big container of it. I couldn't wait to see how it actually works. Well, as I was going over the order one last time and I found this in the write up.

This quote taken right from the product description:

"Not to be used with any products with slime coat in them as this can cause the product to become toxic."

I checked and yes, Prime contains slime coat. Has no one had a problem with this?

Thanks,
Joel

interesting...

this is old news, and it doesnt turn it toxic. a simple visit to seachems website would tell you its fine with prime.

right off seachems website-
Regeneration: Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metalic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of ChlorGuard™, Prime™, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. For freshwater use, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 1 tablespoon of buffer per cup of water (Discus Buffer™, Neutral Regulator™, or Acid Buffer™). Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen™ is ready for reuse. Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen™ and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.

They mean products like Stress Coat, which is a slimy underpowered ripoff anyway.

That was quick. Prime is safe. Here is their response.

Hi Joel,
Thank you for your question. Purigen can safely be used
with Prime. There are some other slime coat products on
the market that contain amines, which will foul Purigen.
However, Prime is not amine-based, and therefore, can
definitely be used with Purigen. We apologize for any
confusion; we hope this information helps. Please let us
know if you ever have any other questions.
Thank you,
