Not worth it unless your water is expensive. Much better to just find a faster way to change water.

It does work well, but not nearly as well as a change.

x2. It works well, and I use it on my brackish tank with some success, but if you are just using fresh tap water then it will just be better to do waterchanges.

It's good if you're in a pinch. Takes out tannins pretty good also.
No need to use it 24/7 though. waste of money. Unless you suck at keeping your tanks clean.

I put it in my tank for the sole purpose of removing the tannins and it doesnt seem to have done much of anything. I put 4 of the 100ml bags in my sump.

Is it possible that there is a shelf life on the purigen?

The boxes of it I bought were pretty dusty and looked like they had been sitting for quite some time. The purigen was white and is now tan so I know its doing a little something, but going on 2 weeks now, I thought it would have been a lot more.

Does it take some time?

Thanks!

Yeah, it could take some time if your tank is very heavily stained. The fact that it is turning color is promising. It will get jet black if left in long enough.

That it is taking long may be more of a commentary on your driftwood than on the Purigen. The DW may just be particularly fresh.

Or just particularly tanniny :D

Sorry, I know that didn't add anything to the conversation but I just had to show off my new word.

Yea, the tank looks like someone poured a keg of Guiness in it...which I didnt think would be the case. I found the wood in the ocean while fishing 2 yrs ago and it was so old it was white (bleached from the sun). On top of that, I let it sit out on my patio for 2 yrs in the elements, which included 4 hurricanes, TONS of thunderstorms etc.
