Snow globe, rattled all the coral loose of detrus. Cleaned the glass.

I have not had a Algea scrubber functioning in a while. Wanted to see if their is much of a difference. So far the purple algea, has been dominant, except very close to the center led reef light.

First the green algae, then diatoms, now this purple algae is growing.

It did not grow until after I replaced the T5 light to a 50/50 acetic coral sun marine light.

It is not slimey, I do not believe it is any thing cyno, toxic.

My nitrates are 5ppm
High alkaline
Phosban in sump for silicate control.
30 gallon tank.
10 gallon w/d sump
15 GPD denitrator.

The fish keep it pretty thin. I am curious if any body with high alkaline water has it.

Tank has been setup for only 6 months.
I have no problems with it growing, I am more inclined to cultivate it. For FREE FOOD.

My pseudo damsel elongatus loves the coral.
I had purple algae that my mbuna would eat for about 3 months. After time it switched to green. Here is a pic of it as it was changing over from purple to green. Sorry for bad quality camera.

Thanks for sharing,

The red green mix, as it is growing back in after getting grazed very short.15221979070141781285641.jpg15221979848351795217623.jpg
The most illuminated spots tend to be the greenest.15221983285221984607632.jpg
The substrate, sand tiles, are covered, the shadow side of the dividers are red.

My Pleco are most of the algea in 24 hours, as I had to evacuate some fish from my top tank due to an ammonia spike from ammonia cleaner in a replacement 55 gallon drum.

Ended up losing 6 pseudo trophus. So I lost my overstock. I hope they can settle the score.20180520_093912.jpg
All the fry stragglers survived.

Getting rough, in the middle rank. Nitrates got into the 50ppm. About 4 females spawned back to back.

Fish are holding high next to return spraybar.
Ich maybe, but no spots.15285897878124607363317315503738.jpg
Still eating, and spawning15285899062835371404728011585321.jpg

Synod cats will need to be pulled before I can treat.

The coral and limestone are soaking in Victoria green and nitromersol.
My synod cats were covered in ich. They all are getting along after some salt, and Ick Guard.
I got the temp up to 82,
I have never treated ick before so any help is appreciated.
The synod catfish are getting daily water changes, at 75F.
