Just ordered my first online fish from Aquascape and cant wait to see my Serrasalmus Sanchezi. I also ordered a few plants but nothing special or large... since they were out of almost all live plants.

:drool::drool: I'm very exited to finally be branching out of the Pygocentrus area and into the Serrasalmus. He will be in my 40g until I can get a 75 or bigger, which shouldn't be to long the way I'm going :D

Any advice or tips I should know about with the Spilo? I have owned RBP's for around 2 1/2 years so I'm not a newbie but still have a lot to learn.

It can live in the 40 gallon for life because it only gets to be 6"

I was actually between getting the purple spilo or the ruby red. Aquascape has some premium fish!

I'm a graphic designer and photographer so a 40g is small since I plan on having some nice decor, and since they are so beautiful in the pics I want him to have a nice clean setup as well so I can see him swim, eat and live :)

They only have 2 purple spilos left and one is mine :)

If you've got nattereri's down pat you should know everything you need to know about handling a serra. Shouldn't be any big surprises

I don't know about down pat since there is a lot that sends me running to this site or one like it so I can find my answers but I know enough to keep them happy and healthy :D

Hello,
You sound just a little bit excited, I hope I dont bum you out.
I had a few serrasalmus sanchezi years ago, that I got from Shark.
Very pretty fish, mine had alot of orange on them, but they were such pickey eaters I had to get rid of them.
I never did have any patience though, good luck Bob
