Purple Spilo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can understand that :)

My biggest issue with him is that he is almost full grown and I really enjoy watching them grow up. So, I may only have him for a few months anyway...Just depends on how much I like him :) When I got my first RBP, he was a very picky eater and I figured he wouldn't last a long time here, but 2 1/2 years later and I love that little guy ;)

I could be wrong, but arent serrasalmus sanchezi and a purple spilo two different species of piranha?

Not unless you count the common name and scientific name as different species :)

Now Spilo is the important thing here they can be red, purple, or ruby red :)

Okay,
these fish I had were very rounded ,when veiwing from the side, and
had alot of orange behind the gill plate.

Without a pic I couldn't say but I'm getting the picture of a Pygocentrus piraya :)

purple spilo and sanchezi are the same specie.
"purple spilo" is just a variant of sanchezi that has purple hue on them at certain angle under certain light condition.

thanks jp80911,
Sorry about the confusion on my part.
I will try to post pics ,of what was sold to me as serrasalmus sanchezi. Bob

So, When I woke up this morning, I decided to check the status of my fedex package and instead of On the Way it said delivered... So I jumped up and run to the door to find out the guy didn't even knock just left it by the door :irked:

I guess I missed him by 7 minutes, oh well here are the first few pics I have taken (don't want to take to many.... at first) :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
