More of a statement rather than question, but this one made me just SMH the other day. In one of the FB fish groups a few days ago someone posted that they woke up to a tank full of dead fish and thought not cycling the tank was the culprit. So some person replies back with ...."When you refill it make sure to add Prime, that will instantly cycle the tank".

:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

That’s why I got out of the Facebook groups. I felt my IQ going down every time I read a post.

This one is on you tube, where a Petco employee tells customers they can have an Oscar with hundreds of guppies in a big tank because "it's so spread out." :screwy:

Be one helluva fat Oscar...

Can I use dog poop to cycle my new fish tank?
I would think that would actually work. I won't recommend it, but it is an ammonia source, as well as a potassium, carbon and iron source. It might even make a good fert. Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 told me to use rabbit poop for that, and it works.

Not sure if that would have too much "bad" bacteria that robs oxygen. Even the rotting food method is only good in small doses because of this.

Dog poop would not be a good fert.
Rabbits are herbivores so their poop is very different to carnivores like dogs. Carnivore waste will have a high protein content that would not be good for plants or the tank water.
I would stick with more practised methods of cycling.

Makes sense. Aren't dogs omnivorous? Not that it matters.

I was reading about this recently.
Its general acceptance that dogs are omnivores, they have the capability to eat grain and plant matter. From what I have been reading this is an adapted trait from living with humans. Wolves will occasionally eat berries but are true carnivores. Dogs have teeth designed for meat and they also have short digestive systems like cats. From what I have read the subject is recently up for debate.
They certainly eat more meat than rabbits.do.lol.
