Looking good Ken. Awesome pond and fish! Have you ever thought about pulling out some to put in a tank? I know your pond is huge and catching them would be a PITA.

Thank You. I enjoy ponds more than tanks so I never even thought about pulling them out. Besides, I don't have a big tank. They love the algae outside and I dose their food with koi supplement to similate the fruits and nuts they get in the wild.
I've been told that they are dark and fugly but I do enjoy keeping them. They are the few that can be kept outside all year round in San Diego. It was a change for me from koi. Believe it or not, the pictures do them no justice. The netting pattern on the scale are very nice and the neon blue on each scale is what I look at. They are aggressive eaters and powerful swimmers.
I can see why some may not see the beauty in them or like them.
Like your honesty.
I like them - I was just wondering if there was something I didn't know about them. I hear you, about an alternative to Koi. I had some Indo Tarpons for a similar reason - until my gourami killed them... Otherwise I'd probably try some Tor as well.
Leptobarbus hoevenii also come to mind - had two - loved them - those would look killer with your fish. Not sure about cold hardiness.
Ken I'd love to see what your fish look like in a tank!!!
I've always been a fan of the toothier fish, but still enjoy keeping Masheer/Tor.
View them in a tank and almost everything else seems lazy. Hard to get any good pics of these guys cause they move so fast and are always on the move. Very aggressive eaters. I sold my group then ended up re-aquiring them cause once you get used to seeing the movement a tank can get boring without it.....
