i wanted to get your opinions on this b4 i do anything but ive come accross 2 125g tanks and want to make a 250 out of it by puttin them together on the long sides to make a wider tank. my questions are:
1 would new silicone adhere to the old silicone at the new seams or
2would it be best to just tank both tanks apart and re silicone the whole thing
3 is there a good method to take the rims off the tops and bottom?

i plan on some bracing up of the bottom long seam and bracing on each end.Any tips and advice are appreciated.
dont be afraid to tell me im headed for disaster ! im open to constructive criticism.

sounds like it will not work. if i'm understanding what you're wanting to do, the bottom panel would be 2 pieces?? if that is the case, you're asking for trouble. i personally would not try it..correct me if i'm wrong..

yep, the bottom would be 2 pieces, i didnt know if if you could do it with the proper bracing or not.....

Do you have the 125's already? You could break them down and build up to 6 tanks if you build with plywood. making each one almost 200-250 gallons

nope i dont have them yet , i was asking this b4 i went and got em, one big tank is enuff for me lol

i saw the 2 55s +uu29 thread and his were put together end to end, i was thinking about making them side by side....

i was originally planning on a ply tank build but i thot if this could work i have access to the tanks if it would be easier puttin the two tanks togetherrrrr

give it a try! I read that thread before he actually got to finish it. I stand corrected. Bracing is key and lots of silicone! lol

does anyone know a good method to getting the rims off and im still kinda worried about the new silicone and old working together in the seams....
if i decide to end up goin this way ill have plenty of pics :)
