puttin 2 125g tanks together ?s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have heard that the razor box knives that extend out (the ones that have snap off tips for a 'new' blade), they get long enough to take several passes at the rim silicone to free it off.

Yes plenty of pictures!

well i woke up this morning half undecided what way to go bout doin this and im thinking about taking 1 of the tanks and using the glass to make a bigger ply tank. The ply tank would make it so much easier for drilling and such......
unless someone changes my mind....lol

Hello; On the old silicone working with new questioin. I have tried to patch a leaking tank by adding new silicone over old, but seldom with success. It has worked a few times, but with ugly results and not great durability. It is sometimes worth a try.

For a number of years now, I have been cutting out all the old silicone possible and then resealing the whole thing at one time so that the new silicone is still tacky when it comes together at the corners.

Scrape the old silicone off first and clean the panes with acetone, then apply new silicone. and about the 2 panes at the bottom, that shouldnt be a problem, ive actually seem high-end tank manufacturers' build the bottoms of the tanks with about 5 different peices of glass siliconed together so the bottom can actually flex if the surface it was sitting on was un-even.

i thot for the bottom seam i would set about siliconing a 2inch strip of glass ether on top or below the seam for support or do you think it wouldnt be nessecery?
