Putting a tank on a bigger stand

Would I have any problems putting a tank the size of the styrofoam on this stand? I figure it would be better to have a ply board under the foam but that is going to leave me with less than an inch from the top of the stand. Ideas?

If the tank is the exact same size as the sheet of foam in the photo (or slightly smaller)...I'm going to say yes there could be a problem. Since from what I'm seeing...the rear two corners of the tank would not be directly supported by the metal stand. The foam sheet (of course) offers no support at all...just insulation.

I would (minimally) use a thick piece of plywood that completely spans the metal cross-members of the stand...before placing the tank on the stand & filling it.

You also didn't mention the dimensions & volume of the tank.

Sorry, it's a 5'x18"x20". I was hoping the one length and 3 middle supports would be enough. I guess I need some ply!

With the foam I have 21 1/4 inches of space, tank is 20 inch tall

If it is a glass tank with the plastic frame you don't need the foam put down some quality 1/2" plywood that spans the whole self and you are good to go.

I don't think it would be a good idea having a glass tank without the edges being completely supported.

I would make sure both sides are supported before filling, otherwise add some wooden board etc

Added some ply to the whole length of the stand and the stryo. It leaves me with 3/4 inch until the top of the stand! Thanks for the advice!!!
