Actually you have good judgement. I didn't go through the other thread yet but I saw the pictures. Acrylic is a good choice because it will flex with the pond. A rigid window would cause stress concentrations at the corners of the tubs cutout.
And you will have to excuse us Americans and our crummy public education system. We don't get very much in the way of metric conversions and even less in the way of actual hands on experience with it. To many of us, millimeters are itty bitty increments. Anything measured with them "must be very small". If you had said that the widow was .006 meters thick, we would have said it was unnecessarily thick, and you could use something smaller. btw, 6mm is plenty thick even for a larger window.
