putting tank in garage

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a couple of tanks in my workshop thats not heated.
I find that doubling the wattage suggested per gallon along with using a hot water tank insulating blanket cut to fit and taped to the back and sides of the tank helps alot.

if you're moving in just less than a year you should suck it up and wait, just saying

that tank sitting there would be a tease....just sayin. =)

Maybe using the water heater?.. find the right drip to have a constant 80ish. and its a water change too all the time...GL or just invest in an inline 1.5 million jigawatt heater.... if you paid that much for that tank dont skimp out on the rest....GL buddy.

i am trying to get a 720 gallon tank but cant fit it in my house so i am gonna have to put it in the garage. it is not an insulted garage so i need to find a way to keep the tank at a good temp and hopefully find a way to do a constat temp.
just get a space heater and put it close to or under the tank but i would just put in french doors in my house so it would fit

Sorry to rain on your parade, but unless you get fish that don't need heat, you're electric bill is going to go thru the roof. I had an 168 gallon tank upstairs and my electricity bill went thru the roof. My wife almost killed me so know I have fancy goldfish in the tank. Good luck, The Doctor
