PVC glue types (toxic)

Hi there, I have to glue some schedule 40 pvc pipes into my system
for my new filter. I bought the primer and the glue from the plumbing
store...it says it's for sewage water.....and toxic.....
I called the plumbing guy and asked him if he has a food grade pvc glue.
He said no and that all the glues are toxic....
my question is; is there a special pvc glue that we fish keepers should use????
 
We use any glue that says it's for potable water. There are plenty of them at home depot and stores like that.

yes it does say for potable water installations on the can.....
so it should be good....thanks
 
I was using PVC glue (here called PVC cement--but it is clear and looks like super glue material, so I guess its the same thing you guys have) last night.

I was using a DIY table with a tarp as a cover as my work desk right beside my pond. When drops of PVC glue fell on the desk with the tarp, a few seconds go by and I realized that the PVC glue virtually ate a hole in the tarp! I just realized what a danger it would be if this glue fell on our precious pond liners.
 
ips weld on 705 will work perfect for you ive plumbed all my systems with it. i have done repairs and add ons it drys with in minutes you can drip the stuff in the water and its fine.
 
I think once its cured, it is fine.


my brother use a pvc glue that is usable under wet conditions. it dried and cured in less then 30 mins

You can use it to patch that same tarp/liner, with the stuff because they are composed of "PolyVinyl Chloride" or PVC;)
