Can I use 4 inch or 6 inch pvc type pipe in my aquariums for certain fish that like caves?, I was thinking to silicon glue some rocks on them to disquise them with the gravel. Is the pvc ok as far as not leaching harmfull chemicals into the water? or is there another similar type of plastic piping recommended for aquarium use??????? Bob

It's fine, remove all sharp or rough edges.
Use GE I silicone or GE silicone II 'for windows & doors' (NO bioseal) or go the expensive route and buy the tiny tubes of aquarium sealer for the LFS.
Several hae been done on here, Midnight's comes to mind.

PVC pipe works great.
I also have some clear flexible tubing in my 90g for my ropefish, this works good if you want to see the fish in there. It's stuff that's meant to run drinking water through so it won't leach anything into the water.
In general stuff that is meant to run water through for human consumption is safe because the standards for drinking water are much higher than for fish.
You can also take PVC pipe with silicone and roll it in aquarium gravel so it will match your substrate, that can look pretty good.

PVC comes in different sizes and thicknesses but if you want it super big you'll either have to order it or find a place that specializes in large pieces of pipe. Home Depot and places like that have some large ones, you'll just have to see if it's big enough for you.
or come pick it up from my house...I have like 10 of them big enough for full grown Koi... took them out of my old pond and now they are sitting in the fish room taking up tons of space...
