Hi there.... I am going to pipe in my sump and my canister filters.
I was wondering if I should use PVC or CPVC pipe..
I have read that CPVC is for portable drinking water and can tolerate
higher heat levels than PVC... but is it needed for a fish tank or is
schedule 80 PVC good enough??????
Also I am not sure if a 2 inch standard bulkhead fitting will fit a
2 inch CPVC pipe.....the thicknesses might be different?????

I dont think you would have any problems with pvc. Bathwater is quite a bit hotter than you would have in your tank and pvc handles it fine. No need to spend the extra money if you dont have to.

All the bulkheads Ive seen are sized for pvc pipe, cpvc wont work it will be too small.

Sch 80 pipe is way over kill, so is cpvc. Sch 40 is all you need.

Do not use Sch 20 because the inconsistancies make it hard to work with for people new to pipe work.

CPVC is for hot water. PVC is for cold and other. Sch40 PVC will do just fine, and it is thicker and easier to work with than sch20.
