Pygocentrus nattereri in 34 gallons

I am new to this forum, so with piranhas.

I have a 34 gallon tank, and i want to have a Pygocentrus nattereri in it.
But i am not sure if i should put more than one Pygo in a 34 g tank.

About two years from now, i will probably have a 55 or bigger, but i am thinking that it may be possible to place 3 pygo in a 34 g. for a year or 2 ?

Or should i go solo?

I may be wrong but I think Pygos are a no go for small tanks. Try the smaller serrasalmus species

Where i live, Pygos are the most common and easiest to get, and to be honest, i haven't seen any other species where i am.

But i've heard that a 26g is minimum for 1 pygo.

The thing is, that i have 1 tank, and i will only have 1 tank, i and i want a piranha, but i just can't get a bigger tank because i still live with my parents, and they won't allow me to get a bigger tank, so i have to wait at least 2 years before getting a bigger tank, but then it will probably be a 70 gal.

When it comes to piranhas its not gallons that determine an adequate home, its the footprint. IMO a pygo of 6"+ needs a 18" width, so for a solo a 40b (36"x18"x14") tank would suffice.

Tall tanks are generally not needed for pygos, just length and width are important. And after one year their 6-8" anyways so they need hella space. "More the better"-ALWAYS!

Well dude this isn't what you want to hear. But don't get any piranha until you have a bigger tank. You could get a 1 inch rhom and grow him out but even still you would need a bigger tank in 1 year at the very longest. There's solo piranhas such as black piranhas and elongs that have to be alone. And there's schooling piranhas that do better in shoals. If you want 1 fish re-consider what you want to get. Don't make your choice based on what you can get right now or what you can afford right now. It sucks but if you can't afford it or don't have the means to give it the proper care don't get it. So basically if you want pygo get like 3-6 at the very minimum. If you want just one fish look at some serrasalums or other types if solo fish.

Yea it's a bit annoying, because i really want to have them in my tank, but it will be unwise to keep them in a tank that is too small.
But you are sure about the fact, that i can't have them in a 34 gallons for 2 year and then switch to a 100 gallons or such?

Black piranha is also called Serrasalmus Rhombeus?

I was and still am very confused about this, because a lot of people are holding rbp solo, and from what i've a minimun for one is 26 gallons.
So some says that it's okay and some says that it's not.

hey, im from denmark aswell i have a solo rbp, and i had a solo rbp in a 100Liter, and now after a year i have a 240liter for him, but in no way can you keep more than 1. and not for a long period of time

I haven't kept any piranha's but from the research I've done you can just about keep a Serrasalmus Sanchezi in a 30 gallon and that grows to 6/7 inches. An RBP grows bigger so I'm afraid it won't be possible for life
