Here are some pictures for those who asked. Its very small amounts and appears to be running through a vein in the rock.
Looks like it to me. I would still at least call your store and talk to a manager. Just tell them you just realized it was there and found out it was harmful.
they theoretically can give you maybe some store credit or something if the manager is sympathetic
Thanks for the advice guys. So even though the other pieces of slate don't appear to have to pyrite it could still be there inside somewhere, so how do I ever know if any rock is completely safe?
If the color is true, that does not look like pyrite. Pyrite would have more of a yellow hue due to the sulfur. Those look like they might be quartz or silicate crystals in the rock. All of the pyrite samples that I've seen have not been in veins. If you wanted to be certain, you could put the questionable piece in a bucket of neutral water and monitor it for pH drops.
