Not all tap water is treated with chlorine. I have never used tap water conditioner and have done 70% + water changes. Never had a problem. Our city water has such a small amount of chlorine it is almost undetectable by water tests.

Huh, I was under the impression they had to treat all tap water with something. It'd be nice not to have to treat the water at all.

I think that quite a few sewer plants use UV sterilization. I have never used dechlorinator and haven't lossed a fish. As mentioned above, I only use it if I'm doing very large water changes. Chlorine actually kills algae.

What threads did you purchase for the python. I'm looking at the site, but don't see what I need??? thanks

You buy the brass adapter. It can be put on a sink that has threads in the faucet and also can be put on a faucet that has threads on the outside. I just bought one today since the dumbs threads are on the outside of my faucet, only 5.43 with my Petsmart discount, not too bad.

I looked at Petsmart and was unbable to find any adapters. I have the one that comes with the python, but it doesn't fit. Thats the only size that I saw at petsmart.

So I bought 3 parts online, and didnt think any of them worked.. So I went to the hardware store and couldnt find anything there... After being there for about 30 mins, somhow I figured out what to do.. Here are the pics of my peices, and what I did.

The picture with the chrome small peice, is the part that WORKED (top), and I eneded up taking out the 2 black washers, and found threads on the inside, which was perfect.. Fits around my kitchen sink great.. Now I can clean all my tanks at my apartment, thank god!! :nilly:

I orded these parts at doctor foster and smith... Though I cant use 2 of them... But I hope this helps the thread, so you guys can make the right decisions on buying your parts... I think it was a male/female part. Not sure.

You can get any of the adapters at home depot or ace hardware. Also i couldnt see paying $50 dallors for a python. When you can get a waterbed fill drain kit for $8 50' garden hose for $12 1 female hose end 1 2"X3'L peice of pvc and a end cap. Cost me about $25 to build. Plus i can add another hose if i need it longer.
