Im looking to buy the python no spill syphon system for my 55 gallon tank. I live in a dorm and it is hard to keep a bucket big enough to deal with huge water changes. Also, its messy as hell. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with this equipment and where i could get one cheap because i am a college student and don't have much money.

Allot of us use them ;) Allot of us modify them though too :D

I would checkt he LFS ... Or you could price the parts at lowes or HD... And make your own.

Lee's makes one that is a LOT cheaper and both work exactly the same. I cannot imagine having fish tanks without that tool. You can make your own fairly cheaply too, You just need a water bed fill kit and a hose. You can then put a PVC ball joint inline to turn the water off an on when it is in fill mode.

i have but in my basment sink anyway it leaks like crazy.. not sure if it's just mine or if it's the sink or what....

other than that they work great... make sure you use plenty of dechlorinator... i add it before the water but i'm not sure if that does anything....

I have found that I do not need dechlor, even in tanks with fry I no longer add it. And yes, we have chloramine too.

w/e i'm paranoid like that :D and dechlor isn't THAT much...

All I use is a hose and a sink attachment. It works fine. Cheap too, $14 for the hose.

actually wal-mart sells these for about $20 cheaper than you are going to find it at an LFS. Or you can buy all the fittings at lowes using a "waterbed drain/fill kit" (the venturi adapter).

The python is a tool you cant live w/o! I would suggest making your own though. Just buy the python faucet pump from a Petsmart ($7.99) and use a garden hose to your liking and that it, cheap Python!
