I cant stand the FWC . I cant stand them as find them useless when it comes to conservation of natural wild land , fauna protection. In other words doing their job.

They love saying how the Cuban treefrog or Knight anole is wiping out native fauna but they refuse to put a limit on the amount of native fauna like green tree frogs-green anoles , ring necks, etc you can collect and sell as feeder, etc.

http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=28&de=405186

There are ads weekly by many in Kingsnake alone selling natives as feeders by the hundreds/thousands. All the non natives combined don't put a dent compared to human collectors and wildland destruction.

I emailed them roughly year ago when saw a screened milk crates filled with green anoles and 5 lined skinks caught by outskirts of Glades .

They replied that they didn't think any impact was being made and they would look in to it .

However lets blame non natives is their motto. I belong to a turtle conservation club here that wants to stop collection of native turtles for food sales over seas as they to (soft shells) are collected by the drones .

It was only Gvnr Crist who has helped us and as you know a collection limit is coming. Long over due and thanks ONLY to him NOT FWC . I have no problem with farm raised soft shells being sold as food which is great just not raping of the environment. The FWC is useless .

I agree with you 100% no way they can prevent sales of pythons without permits and to the wrong people but again when these pythons are confiscated they don't fine the owner thus no actual deterrent. If owners were actually fined and a real fine with teeth it would curtail the amount of people who keep them illegally. Now they rather punish responsible owners by banning them.

Even the Cyprus areas of the Glades which are the last stronghold of the Florida panther they are now thinking of building roads through so humans can now access the area. FWC is no friend of Florida's fauna.

I salute you for working in reptile rescue.

I don't own pythons nor a non native fauna lobbyist lol
You think that is bad? Lissen to this, what about them allowing develpers to literaly burry alive and or crush a entire gopher tortoise populacion(and frequently not allowing nobody to rescue them:irked:) to build another stupid mall in exchange of a "biology friendly"agreement of the developers purchasing proctected gopher habitat correspondent to I beleave 30% of what was developed:irked:

...this is so sad to read. i have snakes n my pythons have either a track top with a lock or the tip locks down to the cage......people are careless n go out n buy snakes just cause they r cool. n do not know proper care.....yesterday a good friend of mine gave his ballpython to his girl cause she thought it was so cute n went out n got a redtailboa not knowing the diff in care or even what he will do with it once its big. n he was driving around with it with the windows down showing it off like a idiot......my condolences goes to the family....

Yes its TYPICAL of FWC which in theory is here to protect wildlife to side with developers and totally ignore wild life/lands.
That's why I get bit excited lol when the FWC or a politician here has the audacity to blame non natives for anything.
http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/wildlife_news/floridas_gopher_tortoises_july_06.html

I was involved in NY with native fish and marsh lands it was a pleasure contacting NY authorities/wild life protection they truly worked hard and wanted to protect wild lands.

Here is a horror trying to get them to lift a finger and all they do is blame Cuban treefrogs-Brown anoles and pythons while allowing total destruction of wild lands and native animals.

That's my point the politicians and FWC here blame pythons and non natives for the loss of natives which has to be the single most outrageous insult to those who care about wildlife that there is.

The Gvnr here does actually care and thus has been ONLY authority in the whole state to do a few things he could do.

In my experience every animal that does well in captivity will not go exctinct. In the tortoise case remenbar sulcatas wich were very rare just a cople of decades ago and now very comon. What if they allowed populacions of gopher tortoises in the way of development to be taken into private hands for captive breeding, insted of crushing them and each animal well indentified and certificate? That would cernatly work, plenty of serious owners and land owners would love these deligthfull reptiles on their land and colections

extreme animals do extreme things. Look what happened to the woman whos face got ripped off by the chimpanzee. You keep something strange, and strange things may happen. You should be taking that much more precaution knowing your animal is dangerous, and still keeping it. Its not the animals fault, its their nature. Thats what they have been doing for millenia, and thats what they will continue to do. We cant hold it against animal instinct.

I agree thats why those gopher tortoises should have been removed and kept by those that removed them nbetter than being killed by bulldozers.

They would have EASILY lived in most backyards here . In fact if they sold them it would still be better than crushing them .You see that all the time here crushed box turtles ,etc while simply allowing turtle clubs to remove them prior to construction would be ideal but NO that FWC wont do.

100% agreed. Ive read on that news, beleave it was "10 people killed by pet pythons since 1980" in my opinion one of the most irrelevant death statistics, how many were in the same time killed by road travic acidents, their own family, sports, dogs, horses, etc.:grinno: If they want to outlaw pythons then they should as well outlaw stuff like cars, tobaco, gardening, fast food etc all of wich are a much bigger "danger" to all of us. Have you wandered how many people fast food and tobaco have so far killed? Or how many people are killed BY PEOPLE EVERY SINGLE DAY, HOUR,MINUTE,SECOND? We are a much bigger danger to ourselfes then any animal;)

if they outlaw snakes AND tobaco.
i will be one hell of a pissed of person.
