I use my python to do water water changes on a 560g and on a 440g system. I feel like I'm wasting a lot of water that could be going to my garden! Is there any sink attachment that allows me to hook up an additional hose rather than watching money go down the drain? My plants will thank you!

I agree, and the way I address it is kind of a pain. I siphon the water out the conventional way and have the end of the python attached to a garden hose that can be moved around as the water drains. I just use the sink attachment for filling. Also I use a carbon block filter on the sink attachment so that would be a pain to take on and off. Of course if you have tanks below ground level tahat wouldn't work unless you were to use an electric pump for draining.

I drain my tank using my python, but let it syphon naturally into the garden then I attach it to my sink to refill it. I don't think it's really any more work than using the sink the entire time plus the water gets recycled.

Man.....Tanks that big need plumbed in.

Either make a drip water changer, or plumb it into your drain lines so you just flip a lever, drain half of the tank, then flip another lever to fill.

I can't immagine doing water changes on a tank that big with a python. That would take FOREVER.

I do the same as above, just use the python for filling, after old water is sent out..
I have PVC semi-permanently set out in the garden and lawn, and a line off the pump sends water out thru that PVC.

in the tank above, I disturb the substrate with my hands, and mulm automatically clouds up, and flows over the stand pipes and out to the garden.

While my tanks are no where NEAR as large as yours, I still don't like wasting that much water using the python. I will admit, I use it, but only to vacuum the waste off the surface of my sand. I then just fill a few Home Depot buckets with a siphon the old fashioned way. I use it to refill the tanks too.

I think if you want a simple solution, I would do what Inglorious suggested, and just stretch the end of that 50' long tube into your garden and let the water flow out, then use the sink attachment to refill the tank.

Once the siphon starts with a python, you don't need to keep the water running, it should flow on its own.

While this is technically true, I have found that even with a 8' total drop in height it wasn't enough siphon to pick up larger pleco poo. Do I ran the water only long enough to clean the sand, then let gravity do the rest. That alone saved a TON of water.
