Hey again fellow MFKers Unfortunatly I would like to acquire about two dozen more reptiles, but that would be very irresponsible of me to do. I would like to purchase 1 maybe 2 more constrictors, and would like to hear of some great species to work with. I'm even thinking of spending 1200-1500 on a jaguar carpet python:nilly: or a $1000 PURE diamond python. So I may be a little sick in the head as of now. Some species I've seen that I like are the Bredli, Woma, BRB, Coastal Carpet, Blood, Super Dwarf Retic and Burm, Green Tree Python, and Ball Python Morphs. Besides ball pythons can anyone give me some of their experiences of the species listed and any other python or boa that doesnt grow larger than 8 or 9'? I've really noticed that there arent too many different species of boa available. Well thanks for your help

Read about how people keep their snakes, and decide which one you fall in love with.

If I ever go and get a big snake again, it would be a Bull Snake of the sayi subspecies, I missed my old fella actually. He was HUUUGE and fat, almost on par, if not already was, with some of the big pythons, too bad he was already old when I got him. My second option is to go with a male BCI or a Woma.

Just thought I might as well toss up another big snake up there on the table.

Yea I've looked at some snow and red bull snakes before and always had them in the back of my mind. Whats a BCI? Is that the redtail boa? I would love one, but dont they get over 10'? My mom wouldn't be too happy about that. How are womas in terms of "handleablity" I haven't seen too much on that subject with them. I love their colors, and I was surprised at the fair prices for them. I thought they were all over $1000 at least a couple of years ago.

With BC, it depends on the subspecies. For instance, the BCC (Boa constrictor constrictor) can reach 12'+, with the record length of about 15'. Some of the other subspecies only max out at 7'-10'. My last BCI (Boa constrictor imperator) was a female that was maxed out at 9'. Perhaps the two most common subspecies on the market are the BCC and BCI.

I find Womas to be aggressive for food when you open up the enclosure, but once you pick them up they usually calm down.

Yep BCI tend to be smaller, though I've heard of them in the 12' range so it's still a lot of snake...Hogg Island BCI are supposed to be much smaller but I've never kept them so I can't swear to it.

I'd go with the diamond personally. I think people are starting to find it harder to shift jaguars. 1000$ sounds really cheap for a diamond by the way. Males will be a lot smaller than the females, depends on how close to the under 8-9' you want them

Bredl's python :D I am getting one for my 16th birthday prolly and they are cool as hell.

Really 1000 is cheap? If you want I'll give you the contact. I think he has males and females available. It's just I'm only 17 and I can only spend so much and If I get the tree monitor it will be my main focus and expense. I do like the bredli also. Can you tell me about blood pythons. I found some nice ones for $175 I think. Thanks for the help.

Importing it into the UK is probably going to be more expensive for him than to buy one in the European Union. :nilly:
