Q: what various things do you think an aquarium keeper should be familiar with and know in order to be considered an Advanced Aquarist?

I wouldn't consider myself advanced. I would say they need to know the ins and outs of filtration, water quality and chemistry, be able to diagnose and treat disease, understanding behavior, and having a broad knowledge of different species and not just be an expert at what is in there tank.

I think that question is to subjective to answer and completely based on peoples personal opinions...

You need a quantitative measure, opinions have nothing to do with it.

A better question would be do you understand your personal advancement level, you get. So much regurgitated information on the net. You have no idea what is real or just crap.

Ask the guy who got the advice to cement the ceramic tiles in his tank.

i know what i need to know and what i dont know, i find out when i need to.

yes! of course.

Perhaps the question can be asked in reverse.
If you don;t know about XYZ then you are not really an advanced aquarist.

If your MFK name is neoprodigy or gr8karmasf, you may be able to consider yourself an advanced aquarist.

I offer a correction.....If your name is Dr. Joe....then maybe. ;)
