the only way she can get smoke downstairs is a down draft from my chimney to hers. The chimneys are 2' apart. Chimney is clean. I had 2 different chimney companies inspect both mine and hers last week. Both with a clean bill of health
I would like to say, that not all smoke is the same. However I agree tell her to get lost, maybe she should have thought of that before moving into a place with a fireplace.
I smoke well umm not cigarettes, and I never have an asthma attack, I have also from time to time smoked a cigar again no asthma. My wife can smoke a cigarette outside, come into the house, and me hugging her can cause me to have an asthma attack. I have also been in the room with fireplaces, and out side of bon fires and never had an issue.
So while each person asthma is different, and even the same persons reactions are different from one season to the next, and each type of smoke is different, I say she is a lonely old woman who needs get some cats.
if shes a smoker maybe she doesnt have asthma. maybe she has copd. if she was asthmatic before, every time she smokes her asthma would exacerbate. but if she is a long time smoker maybe it caused her copd.
Completely agree with nfored on this, and the rest of you to tell her to go play with the traffic.
Asthma does affect everyone differently though, i can say do a 30mile bike ride and not get wheezy at all but i can sit and watch the tv or the fish and need to take my inhaler
