Q for South FL/Miami Fishkeepers

I noticed something while at this guy's house today, which he denies but I believe may be the reason to his tank problems.

The guy's a total pothead, and afterwards, he sprays Febreeze everywhere to get the smell away. I told him that might've gotten into the tank especially since it's a small room with a running fan but he didn't want to believe it.

He's had a few fish die within the past few days including a C. Hujeta. Anyone agree that it might be the spray?

I live in south georgia, and while that may not be florida(obvious) The city water gives my tank a VERY cloudy look, even after the de-chlorinator it was still very hazy. Im fairly sure theres no harm in it, but dont trust my advice, im no expert.

To be honest sometimes if lightning strikes the ground by the holding tanks it will cause this to happen. Sounds weird, but it does happen. It will haze the water.

Well water is for people who live outside the city's water service. they have wells drilled and pumps/water softeners.

I used to live in LA, and once in a while, we would get really clowdy water. it looked nasty, but was really just minute air bubbles. I have no idea how or why they would show up sometimes. That could be what you are experiencing.

It would take about an hour for a glass of water to clear up. can't imagine how long it would take for an aquarium. if your water is testing fine (and not hard), I'm sure its probably just air bubbles. any other mineral/sediment/pollutant would show up on a water test.

Same is happening wiht my well here in N Florida.

And no, I don't use a water softener - my cichlids like it hard :)

when I lived off well water, you had to use a water softner (F the fish!). if not, clothes would lose their color, you'd end up with calcium and lime stains in the bathtub and kitchen, and drinking water tasted like total crap.

yeah sometimes the water in my tank tanks gets all foggy but then it all clears. nothing happens to the fish
