I typically QT for at least a week . . . potassium permanganate is what the poster above is referring to . . . I have never used it, but it is supposed to be very effective
H2O2 (Hydrogen peroxide) soak works wonders. Just put a bottle or two in a bucket and drop the plants in for 30 seconds - 1 minute.
Stay away from H2O2 if you have Vals, Anacharis, HC...etc.
I'v also heard of potassium permanganate working wonders. From what I've heard it's much safer than doing the bleach dip since it isn't such a problem a small residual amount get into your tank. (not killing BB in your filter vs. chlorine)
