Quantity or Quality?

I personally could never see having a huge tank (over about 75 Gallons) with only one or two fish. I actually have more fish in my 10 Gallon than in my 100 Gallon. However, if you like to keep big fish, I encourage you to do so.

I would like both. Have a 300gal with a 22inch Black Aro that I plan to keep forever with some SD's, sevs, pike, a large RD/Midas, FH, small Peacockbass. Would like to replace this tank in 2-3 years with a 750 or 600, gonna add a Florida/spotted gar and a couple long nose gars, Jurenes cat. Have a 135 African Cichlid (Malawi) that I am looking to replace with a 240 or 300 so I can keep a few larger fish (Leic Aro, 1 or 2 P-bass, docile Fahaka, orange pike). I also have a 180gal tank up and running. I want my large tank to have my prized fish and my other two to have fish that I want to either experience or would like to trade out for others. Like I said I want both.

I now have one big tank (150gal maybe 200gal don't know) it has only two huge fish in it. However, I have had many community fish in other smaller tanks also. I must say I enjoy the interaction of my larger fish more than the smaller community. I imagine it's just the question of personality and the time you have to care for the fish themselves. (Different strokes for different folks)

Both. I keep fish for life, and when I find something I like that won't work in one of my established tanks, I setup a new tank.

Me, I keep fish for there whole lives. I'd like to have tons and tons of fish, but its nice to have a few fish you really like and will keep forever. It's like raising aquatic children.
I just couldnt see myself raising a fish, getting to know it well then giving it up for something else. I take it slow, there a alot of fish I like but Im not going to give up anything for it but maybe someday I'll get said fish but no fish are leaving.

Kind of both.

I used to like having lots of tanks with no regard to quality, just lots of tanks and fish.

Now I kind of want to just have a few very large beautiful tanks.

I really don't like buying fish and then ditching them a lot either way. Most of my fish I plan to keep for the rest of their lives, though a few that I'm not as attached to I may grow out and sell or give to other devoted hobbyists.

I know a few people that trade their fish out constantly, and it gives me the impression that they're actually not all that great at fishkeeping. You can't really prove you keep and grow nice healthy fish and can keep them alive for an extended period if you just trade them out constantly.

i'm with ya!

i have gone through tons of fish.
many traded or sold.
i used to like having many tanks, but now im trying to cut down.
(also cause my parents dont like me having many tanks.)
but there are some fish i have had for long and/or hope to keep forever.
such as the redtail payara, bichirs, and my tilapia i caught in a canal.
i still regularly buy and sell fish though.
