Nice man at an apartment complex donated me a 15 gallon aquarium that i am plannin on using as a quarantine for my 125, im new to fish keepin and still learning and read that i needed to quarantine purchased fish to take notice any illnesses or damages they may have as to not infect the rest of the fish i will be housing, but the question is am i supposed to cycle my 15 g quarantine as i would my 125? all that will be in my quarantine is a heater, bare bottom, and a small driftwood of somesorts...any comments or recommendations to point me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated!!!

Yes, you must still cycle any tank that will hold fish for a period of time.

Gluck!

I would get a sponge filter and run it in your cycled tank. When you need to use the quarintine tank, fill it with water from your big tank and move the sponge to the small tank. Instant cycled tank.

put a pleco in it and forget it

that's got to be among the worst advice i have ever heard :screwy:

Ignore the pleco, Just put some gravel from your 125 in a filter bag and put it in the Quarantine tank. I keep mine bare exept sponge filter, and bag of gravel.
