Quarantine?

So a few weeks ago the lfs had some 4" clown loaches with ich for 20$. I went back yesterday and they didn't seem to have the white spots on them. I got one and have him in a 5 gal tank with a few drops of rid ich now. Is that ok?How long should I keep him in there?

I can't really comment on the rid ich since I use the heat/salt method for ich. I will say that a 5 gallon tank is awfully small for a 4" loach in quarantine. If you can I would provide at least a 10 gallon with lots of aeration. Do you have an established filter on the 5 gallon?

I know it's small, might put him in the tank soon. I use the water and have a piece of wood from my tank.

You should quarantine the fish for at least a week (two weeks would be better) before putting it in your main tank.

Personally, I quarantine new loaches for a month before I add them to the main tank. Never hurts to be sure.

I just put the new loach in after only a week. Hope all is good. It's eating like crazy with my other 2.
