I have 2 marineland 300 watts heaters in my 180G

Having more then one heater is a nice peace of mind.
MOST fish (not all) will tolerate temperature changes fairly well. Water is very resistant to thermal change. Takes a lot to heat it and just as much to cool it so the temperature won't change immediately. The smaller the amount of water the more easily(faster) the temp will change. Therefore the larger the tank. The less of an issue it is.
