ive decided to skip out on that tank and to get another one. i dont know about the quality so hopefully someone on here can tell me, i was thinking the 375- 8 tall its 98''x36''x25'' for $1800. Fair price for big tank i think. but has anyone on here bought a tank from them?

good price for tank that size-IMO
Try Glass Cages as well

to house a silver for life you need 48 wide don't listen to what others tell you a silver will grow to 3ft+ so i don't think ANY fish should have to bend to turn around in its tank

people who are telling you 30 wide is big enough are wrong my last tank was 32 wide and my Asian red was not turning with easy i maybe wrong but as far as i remember silvers get bigger than Asian reds and my red was having problems turning at 26inch in a 32 wide tank

you only want to spend the big money on a tank once so not much point in doing upgrade after upgrade it will cost you a lot more money in the long run

i would say the min tank size for a large silver would be 96x40x30 anyone telling you smaller are just trying to make themselfs feel better about having a tank that will be to small at some point

People keep claiming three foot silvers in captivity and how many they seen. Yet still no pics :screwy:

 You've seem to have forgotten about your 27" black aro

just because a aro can grow to 36inch doesnt mean it will need that space to turn around aros are very flexable and a 3ft silver or black aro could turn around in 30inch easy with space to spare

jardini and asian aros are not as flexable as silver or black aro due to the fact that they have bigger scales

lenght is the most important and should be about double the adult size of the aro MIN

the the next important thing is width a 4ft silver or black aro chould turn around in 24inc wide but to give a bit more room so i would say 30inch MIN width

the last important thing is depth but if you want to keep any mid water tank mates then 24inch is the MIN depth

ooops sorry but i do know how big silver and black aros get :D

oh look i used to keep a 27inch Black aro in a 72inch LONG x 24inch wide tank and that had no trouble turning around for thr 7yrs he was kept in that tank

but the tank was to small but only in lenght

i have no idea what is going on in my thread but its fun lol

ive never seen a silver aro over 30'' but i do wanna build my own just so i can house other fish i wold like the have

i dont know the dimensions yet or anything its just in the thouht process. but we wll see

and also, t1, your saying someone who wants to have a silver aro, has to have a 500 gallon fish tank? that to me just doesnt seem right. granted im a noob and everythig it just seems super duper big for a aro

Listen to bderick...He has some awesome Silvers...I agree that a 30" wide tank would be good enough for a silver for life..Some people dont understand that they just dont hit 3 feet in captivity. Id say go for 8x3x2 footprint

Yes I had a 3ft black aro in a 6x2x2 for 7 years that was long before the Internet and I'm no proud now of keeping such a large fish in such a small tank

If you are saying that silvers stay smaller than black aros or Asian aros you are crazy

This is a very old pic of a black aro I had for 7 years as you can see it's close to 3ft

I'm not proud of keeping such a large fish in such a small tank but silvers get much bigger than black aros

This picture was taken before digi pics or PCs

We are all meant to learn from each other and I'm telling you from keeping a aro that size in a 6x2 that a silver which is a much larger fish than a black aro needs a 40 wide tank
