Question about aeration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The amount of oxygen added during bubble-formation from an air stone is negligible, and most of the aeration comes from the bubbles causing surface agitation. Therefore the return from a filter and an air stone increase oxygen concentration by the same method, and the degree of oxygenation is dependent upon the amount of surface agitation.

I may have misunderstood readings on this subject. But it is my understanding that as long as water moves it is oxygenated. Now is it more saturated with an airstone or powerhead I do not think so. I use powerheads to create a current for my fish.
