Without more knowledge of the parent fish, the number of fry from his batch who survived vs. died, there's just no way to say. Also, how well you take care of him will be a huge factor. If you treat him like a discus, he'll likely be fine even if he is fragile. If you treat him the way most Oscars are treated, he may prove to be 'fragile' even if he was in good health to begin with.
