question about choosing the right convicts

lol, he recomends males. i recomend females they stay smaller and less aggressive. but be careful they will pair with alot of different cichlids

Would they pair up with a frontosa or a firemouth ????

Thanks for all the advice i think im just going to go with my gut on this one cuz im taking them from a friend and she has many to choose from they are free and i can always swap them out till i find the perfect match for each other and the other fish i have in the tank im leaning more towards two females but the males are better looking to me

frontosas are african, they cannot cross breed with americans. A convict and firemouth will pair up. Its a common accidental hybrid that you do not want. Females are nice with the red stomachs, but the streamers and humps males get are nice too. I think I prefer a really nice female to a male convict though, you just have to find the right one.
