That's not entirely correct. Blue Gene Dempseys can look like standard dempseys and IMO most of the time there is no visible difference in the two. Sometimes you will see better quality BGs Vs Standards simply because the BGs have been better cared for with better food, more frequent water changes and have been culled but can get the same results with a well care for standard jack.

I agree with you I just didn't feel like arguing with the other guy about it. Blue genes look like regular jack dempseys. You probably would never know if you had a blue gene dempsey Vs. a regular dempsey.

I know what you guys are saying about the blue gene jds. In the end they are a mix of ebjd and regular jds and as such can look like a regular jd. But for me personally, the thing is I would rather say that jds like I described earlier are the blue gene jds. Here is the thing, whenever I see a jd whether it has the blue gene or not, I don't get to see the parent fish. Therefore, I can't really say "Oh that jd that looks just like a regular one has a blue gene", because how do I know if those jds really have the blue gene or not. As such for my sake I happen to call what I described earlier the jds with the blue gene.

Are you guys getting me?

There is absolutely no way to tell the difference between a wild type jack and carrier of the blue gene as it's a recessive trait.

You're argument makes no sense whatsoever.

Ok, so does that mean that if the colour of the jd happens to be darker, with more colouration on him the chances of him being a blue gene are slightly higher?

So, as an example, you have a group of them in the tank - water changed regularly, given high quality food, etc. One of them happens to be a darker body colour with more iridescent sparkles. Would you say he has a higher chance of being a blue gene?
