Question about Filstar XP3 and Turtle Tanks.

I would not suggest Tetra turtle foods. I trusted Zoo Med, NutraFin Max Turtle Gammarus pellets, and even high quality fish foods (they are in the same ecosystem eating the same foods, they can eat the same food).

I had no trouble getting my common snapper on the pellets and he never bothered the fish or the turtles he was in with. He got excited for pellets and even then would eat AROUND the other turtles (which were MUCH smaller).

Not a big fan of tetra either, was feeding them Mazuri, but the store that carried it closed. Guess I should go online and get some. I wish my AST start taking pellets, so far no dice.

I haven't heard of them taking pellets. Have you asked about that on a turtle forum?

Common snappers and FL snappers usually will take pellets but I have yet to see an ally snapper take anything other than fish, mice, crayfish, eels, or similar things. I fed my big guy a few lbs of fillet whiting and cod each week. He would also catch some of the bluegill and bass in the pond from time to time. I would avoid pellets since they are mostly designed for more herbivorous turtles like sliders and map turtles.

Have you tried placing them in his mouth (as if it was a fish that swam in)? You could try pieces of fish with pellet in them to up the nutritional value.
