Ich would be the right answer. It didn't survive it/and or the treatment (as expected unfortunately). Ammonia levels and nitrates suddenly spiked in the tank so I immediately went on a hunt for what I assumed would likely be a dead Loach huddled up somewhere under the bedding. After extensive searching and a major water change, all that I managed to find were what looked like large pieces of skin. With the Loach being small I figured it may have somehow decomposed quickly. After doing more frequent changes and getting frustrated with persistent high levels I went on a hunt again doing a nearly complete change in the tank. I found the body but at this time the tank was on the verge of collapse. The. Ick wouldn't cease and I had to let the tank go. I then after some time of the tank being empty and getting new bedding and items for the tank redid it and went with a low count to help avoid an outbreak of any sort. And a different store. Turns out the dempsey I got apparently had it. I took a more traditional approach and upped the tank temp and used a large dose of salt with water changes. After about a week it was gone and peace remains! lol
