Oh gosh that is bad....I don't have any experience with these guys so I can't say anything. :( Is he acting normal? Good luck...

no, he wont eat and is trying to jump out.

Ok so i just added some aquarium salt, and got some better medicine for treatment. Also i did a quick 25% water change before using the new medicine. And i made sure the carbon was out of the filter. So ill have to let this sit till tomorrow and see if it makes a difference by morning.

good luck keep us posted. You can keep the aquarium lights off also to reduce stress

Definitely:grinno:

Wow.. That is bad. Last time I saw that was when one of the baby bass got chewed on and later was infected.

The end result is it didn't make it for mine. At that time, I didn't have meds and was too late. I tried changing water but that was fruitless.

Good luck with yours.

I did not read what kind of medicine you are using for treatment?

I would suggest isolating the fish in a hospital tank and treating with maracyn and maracyn2 as well as jungle labs fungus clear and salt.

The redness indicates infection and only antibiotics will cure that. Maracyn and maracyn2 are about the best antibiotics out there that treat a broad range of bacteria. The fish needs to be put in a hospital tank because antibiotics will kill your beneficial bacteria or biofilter.

The jungle labs fungus clear is cheap insurance for treating the remaining fungus.

And salt helps with slime coat production and also is supposed to have a calming effect on fish.

Most newly aquired fish that get disease are etheir from shipping stress or poor water quality. So you need to check your ammonia and nitrite, nitrate levels in your tank and get them under check. Or the fish will never make it. Fish don't get sick for no reason.

Yeah i did use Maroxy, and later tried fungus clear by jungle. He was isolated in a tank by himself and i also added some salt. But unfortunately he didn't make it. He died last night. I called saches and Paul is very nice, he told me if i paid shipping he would send another one Monday. He also said that the adding salt part may have been the reason he died so soon so next time i wont add salt and will have all the meds ready to treat it. Still i feel bad the little guy didn't make it :(

Did he give a reason why salt may have killed him?I have been collecting and keeping fish for nearly 15 years and have always used salt as a safe and reliable way to treat my fish along with other meds. As long as you use the correct amount it is safer than anything else. Anyways, sorry to hear about the loss, but he was pretty bad when you got him, so I doubt it was anything you did.

Yeah i agree with the salt, i hardly added any and whenever i used it with my other freshwater fish it helped. He just told me they don't like the salt at all. But its not that big of deal. He said he would send another and there good doing business with
