Welcome to MonsterFishKeepers.com

The members of this forum have come together to share our knowledge and experiences of fish keeping. We want to answer your questions, offer advice and fill the galleries with pictures of the fish we have all grown to love.

We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. Looks like I'm getting some more prawn. These are a sister species to the Giant Blue prawn. Very exciting. Huge thanks to Wes at Rare Fish for sourcing them. I highly recommend him for anything you're looking for.

With the larger Macrobrachium species, the young begin in saltwater and as the larvae go through the growth phase, they move up into freshwater. The species you posted above looks similar to a Macrobrachium carcinus or americanum (there are a few members here who have more knowledge about this than me). That said, once past larval stage, they live solely in freshwater.
Here is a video of M. carcinus.

The Macrobrachium lar arrived. Wes was able to send out a pair of them. Very very cool creatures. I highly recommend Wes - great guy to work with.
