what air pump are you using? I just went through all of this with my 55 gallon drum k1 fluidized bed. I am running a pondmaster ap60. I tried wands, a large circle stone, multiple air stones with no much luck. My pump has a 14 output diffuser and 3/4" output. After reading the instructions I got a piece of 3/4" hose and ran the diffuser with a brick zip tied to the bottom of the barrel with no air lines or stones. I filled it with water and it boiled very nice, I added close to half my k1 and it moved pretty nice, it takes time for the k1 to get bacteria on it and turn yellow, its then heavier and moves alot easier. I just kept adding media every week as it started to move more

i have the pondmaster ap100

D davenmandy runs 2 k1 reactors from 1 ap100 and it boils nice on both.if you buy a cheap air stone you get what you pay for. I think the 7" diameter stone was almost 50 dollars

I would put 6 4in stones at the bottom. Spread out evenly. You could even suction cup them to the side towards the bottom

In my experience, suction cups don't stick on cylinders very well.
