Why use Meth blue? are you transporting the fish for some reason? It is generally safe at low doses, but not really useful for anything that an established gar may have. There is also zero reason to regularly use it and it should never be put in a tank just to put it there..

The key thing to understand about Gars and Meds is you do not use them unless you have verified exactly what you are treating and all other not med methods have failed. (I.E. increase or decrease of temp, Increase of water quality, addition of salts Etc.)

There is a list of meds that has been compiled, that have been proven safe for gars, but I personally would rather not post it. One should not be medicating unless there is clear reason to do so and know exactly what they are treating.

99% of the time meds are not needed for treatment in these fish and it is only in severe cases one should resort to them.

Most antibiotics are not good for gar. most of the common ailments can be treated by simply adding salt, raising the temp, and doing larger/more frequent waterchanges. however this is not my strong point and it is a very important topic, so i will pass on any further advice at this point.
