Whats wrong loco the conversations here arent answering the questions or what? Why does everything have to be outsourced to V.net? I think these basic conversations are better left for this forum .... the boys at v.net arent interested in these types of things. Thanks for understanding!

Never been over to v.net actually. Heard good things but for some reason never checked it out. If I do this or get back into monitors in any way I'll be checking it out. I used to be on the kingsnake monitor forum a bit and there are (or were anyway) some good keepers and breeders over there.

Anyway I'm looking at something like 15x20 total area, next step is to try to figure what I'm going to use to enclose it. Maybe some of the fencing they use for dog runs, though I suppose I'll want to have the bottom 1' or so solid wall (keep those toads out). Only ones I ever see around are the common garden toads (B. terrestris I think), not so much around my house but my kids' school is crawling (hopping?) with them.

Ok now I must admit this is one of the most interesting topics I´ve seen:D. I really think that the life quality of a wide sky animal like a nile, salvator ,etc is greatly increased by an outdors enclosure. If you like this animal and have the space, by all means do it :headbang2

What about the issue with ticks and fleas won't they introduce parasites in to the monitors that could eventually kill them??

Ive never had an issue with native ticks sticking themselves on monitors, there are thousands of species and they seem to be endemic to a particular species in their native habitat, since we dont have monitors native to the US then that wouldnt be an issue. If you are purchasing a W/C monitor i would definatley suggest quarantine and tick inspection before placement outside. This way that eliminates any tick infestation specially with a group of monitors outside.

There are other elements that need to be shared such as introduction to the outside enclosure during the spring etc etc etc that we can share once the time comes. I know i will when I do some outdoor cages for the monitors.
