Recently about 2 days ago i purchase a adult musk turtle about that is around 5 inch. He is in a 30 gallon tank right now with a basking area and zoomed 2.0 uvb light, the water temp is about 75-80F. The turtle doesn't seem to move much and just stays in a corner with its head out. It seems very shy and put its head back when i get near it. Once in a while it would go the middle level of the tank and then sometime it was just float around the top of the tank. It show no sign of coughing or sneezing. Is this concern or possible problem with the turtle.

Thank You

He's probably just not used to his new surroundings yet. Give him some time, he'll become more active.

Ok but stay alert and get vet help if it worses or doesant get better after a few days, hopefully it will come around

will do thanks coura :), i just located a vet that does turtle close to my place incase anything happens, so far good reviews about the place. i actually never had any of my turtles act this way even when they were new to the tank so i am really worried about it. I been trying to do diagnostic the problem with Vicious_fish, also i will find out if it really does have RI soon enough when i get home today.

update: the turtle today just got used to eating again!! from Vicious_Fish advice i tried some food with a strong smell to trigger his eating habits, so i tried multiple food and ended up with freeze-dried shrimp and that immediately trigger his eating habits. So now he is happily eating any pellet food, for some reason he avoided the raw shrimps i put in there :( maybe i should put garlic on it.

Thank You Everyone for the help/advice :)!

yup, i was wondering why not since i even left it in front of him along with the freeze-dried he took the freeze-dried and left the raw alone. I just gave the rest of the chopped raw shrimp to my bichir :)

My musk goes crazy for raw shrimp also. I have to cram reptomin sticks in the shrimp so she will eat the pellets. She doesnt like eating them off of the surface.
