question about overflow

i bought a used 55g tank drilled on the bottom with one hole for overflow. the tank also came with a PVC pipe and plug for the hole. i've never had an overflow so im assuming the overflow is something like this

i plan on either a Mbuna tank or a single GT in it (the other will go in my other 55g). im going to do a DYI wet/dry similar to this http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=140922

what kind of gph pump would you recommend for a 55g

Yep, you got it. Put some course foam in the top of the pipe to help stop the gurgling sound (just remember to clean it occasionally).

That one looks like one on here somewhere...

With only a fish or two (5-10 inche sof fish) turn the tank over 2x - 3x an hour (150gph-300gph).
