I doubt it, but is table salt the same as aquarium salt? If not, will the lfs probably have some aquarium salt?

You can use the plain table salt. The kind w/o iodine. I read it in a book somewhere and have been using it for over a year with no problems. GL.

Thanks savage and snakedog (and monger, too). I'll probably use more salt to increase the hatching rate for my bshrimp.

Aquarium salt is a lot cheaper at walmart. I bought a pint/lb or so of API (blue box, pink label) at an lfs for $4 and the exact same one was at walmart for under $2.

Try this:
www.koivet.com, go to "medications and doses", and click on "salt".

I'm medicating a sick fish right now with this method and i've done it before with other fish. Seems to work well.

You want a salt that is straight without anything in it. It's in the article.

Aquarium Salt is the best salt to use. Thats why they label it 'AQUARIUM'. Table Salt CAN be used but I would never do it. So would many other fish-keepers. Peace of mind is a sure thing when using the correct salt.

Epsom salt is synonymous(same as) with aquarium salt...1 tablespoon of whatever salt per 5 gallons.

Some fish, or aquarium pets are sensitive to salt. So read up. "Iodized" table salt is BAD, non iodized can be used the same as others.

Iodized will be labeled boldly, but just read all the words and compare the two at the store and you will easily see the difference.

Salt is a fix all so to speak, and a good alternative to many chems and meds.

It promotes fin regeneration, slime coat, soothes the gills in times of high stress or after allot of particles get stirred up in the tank.
