I bought a bunch of scrubbies at the dollar store and noticed they're the kind with sponge in the middle. Will these kind work, or will the sponge break apart eventually?

Any input will help because I need to know if I should take them back.

I would take em back, why take a chance?
You never know what might be lurking in that sponge.

Take them back if you can, but you should be able to use them at least until the sponges come apart.

They will work for a while and maybe for ever. But they sure are more expensive. -------------------Are you from louisville, KY? if so here is the best option for scrubbies in bulk I have found. http://doitbest.com/Scouring+Pads-Do+it+Best+Imports-model-10044-doitbest-sku-632989.dib This is a case of scrubbies. 8 in a pack and 12 packs per case. You have to buy a case and the price is 15.48. So you get 96 scrubbies for 15.48. Thats 16 cents a piece! And you can have them shipped to the nearest doitbest hardware store for FREE, and you just go and pick them up. The store I used was on dixie highway in louisville. It takes about a week to get them in and they will call you when they arrive. And you just take your receipt in and pick them up. I ordered 2 cases for my 30g sump a few weeks ago. You just can't beat the price. 192 scrubbies for less than 31 bucks and free shipping to your nearest store.------------if you have any more questions, just ask or pm me

I never even heard of using scrubbies until here the other day. Are they being used like a floss in canisters, hobs, etc?

Scrubbies are used as biological media. Filter floss is for mechanical filtering.

I put the ones with sponges in there. I only spent like 20 bucks on them but hopefully they will last awhile. I cut one open and the sponges look waterproof. They are like pool noodle material. I doubt they will break apart.
