Question about Toadfish - Cichlas or anyone who owns them

Cichlas, What is your Ph, water temp, and salinity? Just curious. I have had mine since January and he has been eating fine up until this point. Although I think he starved himself on purpose to eat one of the Convict Cichlids as a Thanksgiving Dinner. So I am not going to try and feed him anything for a week or so considering his stomach his huge. I keep my water about 81 because my heater is broken which I should be getting a new one soon. My Ph is around 8.0 and I have been using R/O water for several months now. I also have a Pleco so salt is out of the question until I set my 55 up.

sorry,
never kept one.
but ive heard so many times that when they dont have enough salt, they stop eating and die.
even happened to my friend.

there are several species of toadfish ranging from full marine to mostly fresh. Even with pics I have been having a hard time trying to figure out which species is which.

2 of the more commanly sold species are Allenbatrachus grunniens and Batrachomoeus trispinosus both are sold under the name freshwater lionfish or toadfish.

Look at the whole toadfish family there are a lot of similuarities.

This might be another reason for the rejection of the silversides..
They are rather sluggish in their movements and are ambush predators, feeding mainly on molluscs and crustaceans.

Try some frozen krill the one we have at work will eat it from my hand.

Here is a video of him eating Silversides http://youtube.com/watch?v=YHWyn0T_3lA

He used to love Silversides like this months ago but I think the reason that he doesn't like them anymore is because they could freezer burned. I now have tongs that I feed him with so I don't have to violently shake him off anymore lol.
I have Frozen Krill too but he'll take it quickly and then a few minutes later he will cough it up and swim back to his cave in the rock wall that I just built him.
