Question about what is being call wild caught

Duane nailed it, in this situation the fish should be referred to as feral.

The term wild, refers not only to how long a fish has existed somewhere, but also to the lineage. Cichlids in Florida do not originate there, so the cichlid was either let go intentionally by some lame aquarist, or escaped from a fish farm during a storm, flood or other event.

We've got a strain of "wild caught guppy" around here that a couple people and I have named "Stream guppies" Because they're commonly advertised on Trademe, a local auction site, as having been "Caught in the stream behind my house" or similar.

They're Gambusia, you can be fined $100,000 and one year in prison for possession or distribution of them.
